Carles, Eroles
Biography
Born in Barcelona in 1957. He is member of the Asociació Catalana de Compositors and at present is a member of its board of directors.

Eroles began his musical careear as a guitar concert performer; he obtained the Profesor Superior de Guitarra degree, with the best qualifications, at the Conservatorio Superior Municipal de Música of Barcelona; Luis Gàsser was his guitar teacher. Later he took lessons from D. Russel, M. Barrueco, J. Tomás, and others. He has performed concerts in several cities of Spain and did his international début at the Kammermusiksaal der Philharmonie in Berlin, playing later in Malta, Denmark, Italy and Chile at the I Festival Internacional de Guitarra Chile ´90. He was awarded at the II National Interpretation Contest ONCE´87, held in Madrid.

He has studied composition with V. Acuña, Ll. Balada, D. Padròs, electroacustic music with A. Llanas and orchestration with X. Boliart. He also attended to a courses by H. Zender, I. Fedele and W. Zimmermann. He has composed works for solo guitar, voice, electroacustic music, ensemble music, symphonic orchestra and symphonic band.

His works have been performed at several concert series like, among others: Cicle de Música del Segle XX-XXI 'Nick Havana' (Barcelona), Avuimúsica (CCCB and L’Auditori de Barcelona), Festival de Música Catalana (Teater Kikket de Utrecht), Carnegie Mellon University, (Kresge Recital Hall i Alumni Concert Hall de Pittsburgh), Concerts Phonos (Metrónom, Barcelona), Festival Encuentros (Buenos Aires), I Concerti del Chiostro (Verona) and his works have been performed by Carnegie Mellon Contemporary Ensemble, Solistes de la OBC-Quintet de Vent, Grup Diapasón, Sphera Ensamble, Quartet de Guitarres de Barcelona, Morpheus Ensamble, Grup Instrumental de Valencia, Insomnio Ensamble, Areté Ensamble, ZaubertQuintet and Banda Municipal de Barcelona.

He has been awarded with the Premi Especial de la Asociació Catalana de Compositors at the X Premi Francesc Civil de Composició-Premis Ciutat de Girona 1998. Also he has been awarded with the Secondo Premio at the XXXI Concorso Internazionale di Composizione 'Guido d’Arezzo' 2004 for 'Passa la nave mia', a mixed choir based on Petrarca's text.

He has published works by Clivis, Dinsic, La Mà de Guido, Boileau and Periferia. Some of his works have been recorded on CD.

He combines composing with guitar teaching at the Escola Municipal de Música of Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelona).
