RAMÓN GRAU Biography
(EN) Ramón Grau was born in Úbeda, Spain, in 1989. He finished his Bachelor in piano at the 'Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid' with Professor Ana Guijarro, obtaining the highest qualifications. During the academic year 2011/2012 he studied piano part-time at Liszt Ferenc University in Budapest with Professor Jenö Jandó. Ramón widened his formation attending master classes with C. Martínez Mehner, E. Nebolsin, A. Ball, A. Kandelaki, J. M. Colom, B. Uribe, N. Kereselidze, J. Soriano, R. Nattkemper, S. Sandrin and P. Nemirowsky, also in fortepiano with R. Egarr, M. Cole and M. Bilson.

Ramón earned the following awards in several Spanish National Piano Competitions: Second prize in 'Juventudes Musicales' (Granada 2005), Second prize in XXXII National Piano Competition 'Marisa Montiel' (Linares 2013) and First prize in XXV National Piano Competition 'Marisa Montiel', 'Villanueva del Rosario' (2006) and the XI Peninsular Piano Competition 'Real Club Náutico de Vigo', recording Mozart´s piano concerto KV 467, with Ensemble of Vigo 430 Orchestra (Vigo, 2009).

His artistic career as a soloist includes concerts in Madrid, Seville, León, Córdoba, Almuñécar, Ronda, Fuengirola and other Spanish cities. He also offered recitals at International Music Festivals of Jimena de la Frontera (2003), Lucena (2005 and 2006) and Úbeda (2013). It is remarkable to mention recent recitals offered in Scherzo Foundation's XVI Young Performers Cycle (Madrid, February of 2018), in XXVIII Sacred Art Cycle of Madrid (March of 2018), in RTVE Orchestra's XXIII Chamber Music Cycle (Madrid, Teatro Monumental, February of 2018, live broadcast by Spanish National Classical Radio) and in Teatro de la Zarzuela (Madrid, December of 2018, February of 2020 and coming soon on May of 2021). In November of 2019 he debuted in Czech Republic with Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra playing M. de Falla's 'Nights in the Gardens of Spian', conducting Andreas S. Weiser. Very recently he has recorded for Gibraltar television (GBC) a zarzuela program with retransmission on April 28, 2021.

From 2013 to 2017 Ramón worked as a piano accompanist at Katarina Gurska High School of Music in Madrid.

At the theatre field, Ramón has developed his activity as a pianist since 2011: at Teatro Español of Madrid in 'Twilight of the Gods' (2011) and 'Antigone' (2013), in collaboration with ORCAM´s choir for Tomás Marco´s opera 'El Caballero de la Triste Figura' (2012) and at the Teatro de la Zarzuela of Madrid where he currently works as a répétiteur since 2016.

Together with pianist Sylvia Torán, Ramón forms a piano duo. They have performed in Madrid (Real Conservatorio Superior, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Polytechnic University), Alcobendas (Art Centre, 'Paco de Lucía' Auditorium), Barcelona (Marshall Academy), Aranjuez (Royal Palace), Palma de Mallorca (Almudaina Palace), La Granja de San Ildefonso (Teatro Canónigos) and Zaragoza (Auditorium).

As a composer it is remarkable to mention his soundtracks for Luis Navarrete's short films 'Sazóname' (2017), 'El Palacio entre las Nubes' (2018) and 'Queridísimo papá' (2019), and for his upcomig movie 'The Phantom of the Sauna'. Ramón has also written music for piano solo (Suite Antígona -2013-, Intermedio -2020-...) and chamber music groups (('8-9.5.2011 para violín y piano', 'Contemporary Poem' - 2020) among other works.
