Juan G. Escudero

Murcia, 1981

A very broad and very heterogeneous palette of twentieth-century avant-garde and current currents of chamber or symphonic instrumental music influence my music -from Ligeti or Lutoslawsky to Philip Glass or John Adams-. On the other hand, I am strongly attracted to different current manifestations of jazz, such as Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Brad Mehldau or Pat Metheny, as well as re-readings of free jazz and free improvisation. All this merges with the aroma with which the cinematographic music permeates my style, in evolution and constant mutation. From the classics Bernard Hermann or John Williams, the proposals of Alan Silvestri or George Fenton (among many), to the most contemporary conceptions of authors such as Johann Johansson, Ólafur Arnalds and Michel Price are in my sights.
I develop my creative process among diverse musical disciplines: composition, arrangements, orchestration, transcription, analysis and teaching; but first of all I am a restless and versatile musician.
