Cristina , Vilallonga Serra
Composer and singer born in Barcelona. She’ s written chamber music, ensemble and orchestra and one opera (DER GARTEN VON NEBENAN, 2006). She´s developped a close relationship with Argentinan music, specially with tango. Her work has the characteristic of a great esthetic freedom. She´s Graduated (Cum laude) in composition and film scoring at Berklee College of Music, Boston, Mass, EEUU. She also writes songs including lyrics mostly interpreted by her, in an original style that includes influences from jazz universe and Latin American folklore, and Spanish roots.
In 1991 she initiates her musical relationship with contemporary dance especially with the company Nats Nus for whom she composes 4 shows. Her audio visual Works for cinema and TV includes the work with filmmakers -Bigas Luna, JM Salgot, Rosa Vergés, Maria Ripoll, among others- In relationship with song she has recorded 3 albums of her authorship « COLLARES ENREDADOS », « SOMOS SUEŃOS »y « LUNA BORRACHA » and collaborations that includes 3 cd´s with the Argentinian Parisian group Gotan Project and 2 world tours, to come back afterwards to her creation as main activity,
Her works had been interpreted among others by violinist Vera Martinez Menher (Cuartet Casals), pianist Jordi Masó, Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, and Wind trio from OBC, percussionist Miquel Bernat, Ensemble de la ACC, Arts Quartet, Zoco duo.
Her award includes, 1er prize string orchestra Berklee College of Music, Boston Youth Award for outstanding musicianship. 2 Golden records as singer with Gotan Project, Olympia, Paris, 2003 and 2008. She also teaches and gives occasional singing stages. She’s member ACC and lives in Paris.
