Moisès Bertrán Ventejo
Currículum
Born in 1967, Moisès Bertrán Ventejo holds the degrees of 'Professor Superior de Piano', 'Professor Superior de Solfeig i Teoria de la Música' and 'Professor de Composició' from the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu de Barcelona. He has also earned the degrees of 'Master in Music' and 'Doctor in Musical Arts' from 'The Hartt School' (University of Hartford, USA). His primary teachers have been Salvador Pueyo & James Sellars for composition, and María Jesús Crespo & Luiz de Moura Castro for piano performance.
He has been awarded several prizes in Spain as well as in the United States including:
- 2nd Prize at the 'XVII National Association of Composers, USA' - Young Composers Competition (Los Ángeles, California, USA), 1995.
- 2nd Prize at the International Composition Contest 'Francesc Civil/ Ciutat de Girona' (Girona, Catalunya, Spain), 1996.
- 'Norman J. Bayles memorial Award for Composition' (The Hartt School, West Hartford, Connecticut, USA), 1993.
- IX Premio Constitución (Junta de Extremadura, Spain), 1991.
He has taught piano, theory, harmony and composition for several years in Spain as well as in the USA.
His pieces have been played quite often in public concerts. Among them: Catalanesca (symphonic orchestra), Somnis (chamber orchestra), String Quartet Hartford, Trio per a Piano i Fustes (oboe, bassons and piano), Tres Cançons Canadenques (soprano and string orchesta), Tres Poemes de Suite Parlavà (soprano and piano), Tema amb variacions 2 , (violin and piano), Petita Suite (piano).
Elected member of the American Music Honor Society 'Pi Kappa Lambda' in 1994.
